    Ruth Kutz was born in Washington, D.C. but has lived in Syracuse since she was nine except for college and a few years afterwards. She is a Clinical Social Worker, currently in Private Practice. She has been very active in the Democratic Party as a Ward Chair and working on numerous campaigns. She has always been interested in the work of the CRB and is delighted to have the opportunity to serve.
    Peter McCarthy is a former District Data Coordinator at the OCM BOCES Central New York Regional Information Center. His former positions include central office administrator for data and planning, staff development specialist, and special education teacher.
    Mae Carter , a personal-line insurance professional currently employed by OneGroup. She is a graduate of Nourishing Tomorrow's Leaders (NTL) through the Gifford Foundation and GC2, an organization started by the Gifford Foundation that also works with Syracuse University's South Side Initiative Office. Ms.Carter has also served on the YWCA Board and the Board for the Southside Community Coalition.
    Dana Natale has been a resident of the City of Syracuse for 27 years. She has worked in the affordable housing field for all of that time, with the last 18 years as manager of a building for the elderly and disabled in the University area. While her children were growing up, Dana was an active volunteer for Eastwood youth sports. She graduated with her A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies in April 2017. She has always been fascinated by our legal system and sees the Citizens Review Board as an exciting and innovative way to participate in that system and serve the community she loves.
    Mary Nelson is the founder of the Annual Youth Day BBQ and the President/CEO of The Mary Nelson Youth Center, a 501(c3) Not-for-Profit Agency. Mary began organizing the Back to School BBQ in 2002, as part of an effort to reduce violence in her neighborhood. Along with providing school supplies, she treats children and their families to a barbeque, which facilitates the community coming together in peace and showing love for another. In 2009, Mary Nelson's Youth Center was opened and continues to offer-Education, Health Career Services and free breakfast, lunch and dinner to all needy families in her community. Mrs.Nelson is presently a Full-Time employee at Upstate Medical University in the Department of Radiology.
    Lori Nilsson was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Syracuse in 1974 to attend Syracuse University.  Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science Program in the SU School of Social Work, she decided to make Syracuse her home.  Lori began working for New York State in the fall of 1978.  Over the years working for the Office of Persons with Developmental Disabilities, she provided direct care services to people with developmental delays, supervised staff and residents at the Syracuse Developmental Center as well as at group homes in the Onondaga Hill area. Her work for the State led her to become an activist in CSEA, the union representing the direct care staff.  This led to activism in the community through CSEA and the Greater Syracuse Labor Council. Lori retired from State service in the fall of 2014.  She looks forward to continuing community service through the CRB.
    Clifford Ryan is a lifelong resident of Syracuse and has worked as an advocate and volunteer for the community for over 16 years.  He has worked for and with youth organizations, including the SCSD.  Furthermore, he advocates for social justice and civil rights.  Mr. Ryan has received the following awards for service to the community:  the Peace Empowerment Award, the Dan and Mary Lou Rubenstein Social Justice Award, the Lincoln Middle School Family and Community Recognition Award, the SWCC Award for Services to the Community, the Faces Award and the Brother to Brother Award for Community Service.  He has also received a certificate from the AVP Alternative to Violence and a certificate of completion from the SPD for completing the Citizens’ Academy Training. Mr. Ryan joined the CRB on November 22, 2016 and is on the Community Outreach and Police Relations Committees.  He is committed to helping bridge the gap between the community and the Police Department.  
    Balbina Priscilla Santana was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the U.S.A at the age of 18. She lived in Miami, Fl., Long Island, NY, Newark, NJ and Utica, NY then moved to Syracuse, NY in the summer of 2009. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Bryant and Stratton College. She was previously employed as a Language Services Manager at the Spanish Action League for 6 years before becoming a team leader of the Interpreting Services Department at Upstate Medical University Hospital. Ms. Santana’s love for the City of Syracuse and its community motivates her desire to help as much as possible.
