    This is an exciting opportunity for a select number of youth to participate in the newly formed Youth Advisory Council which is being set up to advise the Syracuse Common Council regarding local legislation and its impact on young people.

    The Mission of the Youth Advisory Council is to engage selected youth in the business of Government.   Participating youth will have an opportunity to meet firsthand with lawmakers in City, County, Syracuse School Board, State Government, and Federal Government; review legislative proposals and advise lawmakers about issues important to Syracuse youth.
    Composition of the Youth Advisory Council  
    The Youth Council will be composed of 11 Youth and 5 alternates between in grades 9 through 12 who reside in the City of Syracuse.
    Youth Council members will come from all City Council Districts, and will represent the racial, ethnic, and economic diversity of children and youth in Syracuse.
    Members of the Youth Council will be appointed by Common Council President and at-Large and District Councilors upon review of applications.
